Easy to See Targets
The Gun Powder Gals often shoot indoors and sadly, our 2 indoor ranges have terrible lighting. It is very difficult to see. I’m sure it is middle age creeping up on me, but I have a difficult time seeing targets outdoors as well. Glow Shot has some of my favorite targets because no matter the conditions, I can always see where on the paper target I have hit. They have a number options, all of which I have used.
We get a lot of new shooters or shooters who haven’t been out for awhile. The Thompson Targets diagnostics is one target I always have on hand. Not only does it have the nifty diagnostic part (where it shows you the bad habit/technique that is causing your shots to go astray, they also have advice right on the target for what you can do to correct it! They also have explanations for both right and left shooters. This is a must have target!
When I first started pistol shooting, I would get so frustrated when I couldn’t hit the bullseye every time. Having targets with bullseyes distracted me from the reason I started shooting – defense. Shooting for defense means shooting at center mass. My military friends would always tell me they trained shooting center mass and that was something I needed to do as well. The target below is my favorite for newbies because it gets them away from the “bullseye only” mentality.
Range time is fun time! Throwing bullets down range can get boring (at least to me!) so I like to mix it up a bit. The Sink the Boats target is great for a number of reasons. One, you can play this target as a game. Your friend can shoot the boats on top, you shoot the boats on the bottom. Or you can try shooting with both eyes open and see if you can hit what you are aiming for. It is tougher than you think!
Reducing circles will make you rethink how good of a shooter you think you are!
If you like games, I suggest buying the pack from EZ Targets. You’ll get 40 in a pack, the Sinking Boats mentioned above, the dart board, the dot torture and tic tac toe.
I haven’t always been a fan of shooting paper targets with people images on them. That is just me. I do really enjoy the Hostage Series from Gun Fun. I’ll also admit, I’m lazy. So after I finish shooting the bad guy, I’ll shoot the hostage. That’s just because I don’t want to leave 1/2 the target unused. Or maybe that is me just being cheap.
Outdoor Targets – Non-Paper
Oh, how I long for the day I can have my own land so I can shoot my own targets. Here are 3 that I would buy right away. The Dueling Tree Steel target, because is there anything more satisfying than hearing the ‘ping’ of steel?
And because of my aforementioned laziness, the Jumping Target makes me happy, no resetting! Just shooting, shooting, and more shooting until it gets too far from me to hit. And as a self-proclaimed ‘Shotgun Gal’ I love the Clay Pigeon Target holders. Orange dust when you hit the clay targets makes me happy.
What are some of your favorite targets?
Oh, and full disclosure – there are affiliate links to our Amazon Affiliate store. When you buy something you see here, the Gun Powder Gals get a few dollars (or cents). Thanks!
